Commercial Road has a new pulse, and it’s called The Terrace. A cheeky younger sibling to the acclaimed Wilson & Market restaurant, The Terrace is a melting-pot of mischief, music, social drinking and relaxed glamour.

Event Recap

The Terrace by Wilson & Market opened Friday, October 6 with an exclusive Melbourne launch where Laurent-Perrier revealed their extraordinary new champagne La Cuvée. Fashion darlings, models and the hospitality industry's who's who were treated to tray upon tray of Paul Wilson's elegant, refined food including Moonlight Flat Oysters, Watermark Seafoods softshell crabs, new from Rossini Gold Caviar, and the freshest provisions from Clamms Seafood. 

The fresh, bombastic Terrace cocktails Blood Orange Fizz and Mango Daiquiri's topped with violets showcased 4 Pillars Gin and Bacardi Rum. The evening's boutique beer and wine were provided courtesy of Castlemaine Brewery and Mitolo Wines and premium tonic by Fever Tree.

The Terrace's promise of mischief rang true when guests, including Denmark's king of Caviar Jacob Rossini (who flew in from Denmark for the evening), were stopped in their tracks when Donna Summer's I Feel Love blasted through the speakers and two mysterious gold dancers entered the building, twisting and turning in an incredible performance of agility and intrigue.

About The Venue

South Yarra’s only street-facing garden bar; The Terrace opened as a reimagined space by Studio Studio who created its tropical, intercontinental design. The Terrace’s decor takes cues from the famed garden terraces of Singapore, Beirut and London and comes to life with a lush live garden, retractable roof and windows, and a custom mural by Tokyo-based, Russian artist Karina Eibatova.

The Terrace offers the best of the best in hospitality, in an entirely relaxed setting. High-level service, fine wine, craft beer and curated cocktails plus an informal, yet elevated bar menu, crafted by the proprietor and renowned Melbourne chef, Paul Wilson.

The Terrace menu is market-fresh and farm-to-table biodynamic (as is the brasserie). In warm months The Terrace offers Lamuchan; an exotic Mediterranean flatbread with accompaniments, vibrant and flavourful salads, pristine seafood platters, sashimi sharing plates and nibbles, all designed as the perfect accompaniment for drinks. The drinks and food menu changes with the seasons, ensuring use of the freshest and most inspired produce.

Luxe velvet, soft oak and draped canvas curtains set the perfect atmosphere for warm nights, cold drinks and great parties overlooking Commercial Road, the epicentre of the Southside’s bustling nightlife. Mr Wilson has impeccable taste in both food and design, The Terrace sports Tom Dixon lights, imported from the UK, a custom pendant light by

local talent Volker Haug serves and an entry statement, and the super-luxe bathrooms designed by Kate Challis have an extremely high Instagram value.
