South King Street's Botany View Hotel stormed its freshly renovated self back on the scene this past weekend with a double-dose of monster Live music performances - a secret show from DMA's on Friday followed by Canadian rockers Japandroids who played an unannounced warm-up gig before heading up to Splendour.

The public bar was spilling over with people hotly anticipating Friday's secret act (the Bourke Street crew have a habit of rolling out first-class live music) before a wild party ensued.

After spending the last few months trading through its renovation, The BVH officially opened with Newtown locals and the who's who of the Inner West creative scene. Drinks flowed, and tasty morsels from chef Ernie Priestly's new menu were shared around with the punters.

Nestled at the St Peter's end of King Street, right near the Fijian Market and the old Bonsai Shop, The BVH offers elevated pub classics for lunch and dinner (including $10 lunch specials Monday to Friday).

The brand new rooftop bar is spacious with vibey festoon lights and a large mural by celebrated graffiti artist Sofles. The live music every Friday and Saturday night is curated by Music Booze & Co's Matt Rule, and you can expect a solid line-up of Sydney's best emerging live music acts.

"Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting our latest venue over the weekend, special thanks to DMA's and Japandroids. We're looking forward to the next three weeks too. We've got some great live gigs planned."

Paddy Coughlan, Founder, Bourke Street.

Rumour has it that The BVH has a few more tricks up its sleeve this month, stay tuned.
